David and the crew over at http://www.vanillasoft.com/ have finalized their content and officially launched the brand spanking new website we’ve been working on over the past few months. David and his team were a pleasure to work with and I look forward to working with them on our next project which will be updating the look of their lead management web application. Congrats to them on their new site.

New reconfigure site launched.

In the wee hours of the morning I’ve managed to find some time here and there to put together a slightly more appealing site then the last to showcase some of my works. There where many projects to choose from so if your site did not make it to the showcase, send me an email and I’ll put it up when time permits.

The new site’s built on the beautiful content management system of WordPress which will make updating the site a delight. A few more projects are launching soon and will update sometime this month.

Free shopify theme update

I’ve updated the Shopify theme named rare1. This theme fixes a number of issues with IE6 and I’ve also added a little more styling to it.
You can download it here.

Note: For some reason, firefox on mac does not like this link, feel free to contact me if you have problems.

Tom Bannen Chevrolet

Tom Bannen Chevrolet is a car dealership based out of Madison, TN.

Jeff, their Internet Manager needed a few one page websites that would help a) Provide a form to give quick quote on selected cars and another, b) Provide a form to submit information about a vehicle that will compete with a rival, Carmax.

I created two simple pages with a smooth design and a web 2.0 twist. So far the pages are doing well, averaging a few submissions per day!

This project comes thanks to his wife Kelleigh from Diva Today

Shopify marketplace launched!

The Shopify marketplace has recently launched and I must say is quite kick ass. The functionality allows you to search the thousands of Shopify stores for products, even within a certain price range. The featured shop of the day is also quite cool. Very nice work guys.

ODGC

ODGC (Ottawa Disc Golf Club) is voluntary work because I love to play disc golf!

I designed the website and a t-shirt for one of the tournaments. I hope to help the club out more in the future and if you’ve never tried disc golf, you should! It’s free, fun and an excellent passtime. To find out if there is a course in your area, you can do a search over at the PDGA website.

Seeds of the Earth

Seeds of the Earth is an online and brick & mortar store based out of California featuring eco-friendly products for humans and the planet. They also have a Myspace page.

Diva Today

Diva Today by Kelleigh Carlyle Jewelry is an unique online jewelry store for the everyday Diva.

Kelleigh contacted me one day in dire need of help getting her store finished and launched. She had a tight deadline was worried her store would never get finished as the person previously building her site had other emergencies. She gave me a call, told me what she needed and gladly helped getting her store up and running.

I managed to build the Shopify template and helped implementing her newsletter functionality in the time she needed and she was extremely grateful. Her good sense of humour and easy going attitude made her a pleasure her to work with. She was so pleased with my work her husband got me to help out with a few projects of his over at Tom Bannen Chevrolet.

Quote: “Hi Stephane, I am so proud of the site, I thought you did an exceptional job… I will def. recommend you to anyone who’ll listen. Also would you like to put a link to e4ed8caa87.nxcli.net or to your email somewhere on my site? many thanks, kelleigh

Devshop

Devshop is a hosted project management application specifically designed for planning software projects.

Craig, the CEO of Devshop as well as my former manager at another software company asked me to help him with the look and feel of his web application. This was a few years ago and the product has now undergone a bit of change but the underlying elements are there. I hope to work with him in the future on the evolution of his software.

Alex Munter

Alex Munter announced his candidacy for mayor of Ottawa in the November 2006 municipal election.

Alex Munter was a voluntary project which consisted of a extensive drupal theme. I worked very closely with the Munter crew on the all the web aspects of his campaign. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Munter staff as well as other volunteers this site was a success. It featured Videos, Podcasts, Email marketing campaign integration, feeback forms, various polls as well as a frequently updated blog and photo gallery.

Alex told me on multiple occasions that he received many compliments and praise for the website which was always a pleasure to hear. I still think he should be Mayor as he had great views and great ideas for our city.

Quote from Alex: “Thanks for all your help, Steph. I can’t tell you how many times I heard “you definitely have the best website” from people – I heard it everywhere I went. You did a great job and, absolutely.”

Leaving people behind?

Something shocking, yet inspiring. I’ve been doing web work for many years now and I’m still surprised at the amount of people I will speak with and hear the following:

“I was working with a design team on getting my website up and things didn’t go through and now I have to start from scratch, can you help?”

Alex Munter

I recently received an invitation from Alex Munter to a thank you party for helping with the campaign. I think he is a truly unique and genuine politician as opposed to the popular belief that all politicians are not.

I will always remember when he lost the campaign, and after he did his thank you speech, exiting the building he spotted me in a barrage of cameras and lights and stopped to thank me so much for my hard work on the website and how much he loved it. He even sent me a Christmas card… Good guy and I thank him for the opportunity to help with his campaign.

Happy Holidays

I’ve been very lucky the past few months as I’ve been working with some great people on some great projects. I’d like to wish everyone a great holiday season and best of luck in the new year.

Great examples of where web applications are headed can be found here, it’s a little outdated but I like to visit the winners, and runner ups every now and then.

ThinkVitamin.com, good reading…

I Read an interesting article today on ThinkVitamin.com. It has magnificent advise for those who are involved in a software company. I am constantly intrigued by companies who want to remove the “bs” from marketing. I think people have had enough of being mislead and charged ridiculous amount of money for software. With Web apps growing in popularity, startups are charging next to nothing, I think of David vs Goliath and I think Goliath is going down. 🙂
